the web | James Jean
It is a startling discovery. Bone and blood and rust and copper. Death on pages. Life on the mind. This James Jean, commissioned by the French to create AIDS art.
The Molecule loves sex. Who doesn’t? Yet here, we are fascinated and cautious curious all at the same time. From the grotesque to aphrodisia through the far crevice of dark matter, these paintings speak to us.
They are alive.
We are alive.

We swim in and out of cloth and canvas on moleskine, sketches and sketches. And sketches.
This is why the Molecule loves James Jean. It just. Gets. Better.
Note: We suggest you start with the sketches then work your way through relief. It is quite an extraordinary experience. The illustrations above were apparently inspired by Yuko Shimizu, a friend of the artist’s. It is clear how original this artist is, however, once you’ve grazed the work. Congratulate yourself. You’ve found a true master.
